What Does Christmas Means To Me?
Christmas, to me, is both the happiest and the saddest day of my life. It is definitely one of the most important day of my life. For without Christmas, life wouldn't be the same.
On this day, Jesus, the Son of God, came down to Earth and lived as a man, to save the world. He came to tell people more about the GOOD NEWS, to lead the people back to God. Showing such humility in his actions and such wisdom in his words, he showed everyone that He was no ordinary person.
On this day, Jesus came to Earth through the annointed Virgin Mary. When Jesus came, the wise men, angels and the shepherd came and rejoice in the coming King aka Messiah. Just life it was prophesised some 400 years ago that He would come!
On Christmas day, Jesus, the son of the Creator of the universe, was not born in the King's palace or to the richest of people. In fact, on that very night, Mary and Joseph actually couldn't rent a room in the inn as the city was crowded, so Jesus had to be born in a manger, which is a feeding plate for animals! The kings, queens, rich & famous were not invited, but instead the shepherds and the wise men followed the star to His birth. For Jesus did not come to crave for fame, for Jesus did not come to be worshipped or served, for He did not come to save those who are proud, but He came to serve and give His life as a ransom for many.
On Chrisetmas day, I had mixed feelings. It's devestating to ponder about the fact that Jesus came to die for us. Like the song by ShoutPraises "He Made A Way In A Manger", Jesus' knew that he would end up on a cross eventually, but He was still willing. He was the perfect sacrifice, for the imperfect world. He paid a debt that he didnt owe, a debt that we cant pay.
On Christmas day, I smiled at the baby Jesus.
On Christmas day, I cried at the foot of the cross.
On Christmas day, I thank God that He came.
